There’s the thing about (our) ghosts: we don’t love them. How many times do we avoid parts of ourselves? I know I did. I know I do.

But why do we do that? Why are we so scared to be... us?

*cliché alert* If there’s something life taught me is that it’s pointless not listening to your heart.*cliché alert finished*

Some time ago, I learned from Mark Manson that you could imagine your brain as a car. A car that has 2 people: the “feeling brain” and the “thinking brain.” We usually tend to rationalize everything, ignore the feeling brain and assume that the one who controls the car is the thinking brain. We couldn’t be further from the truth. Deep inside of us, we feel it. We know what makes us happy and what our feeling brain is saying. We just chose to look the other way and hope he doesn’t talk again. We tend to ignore the amount of mental energy we waste going through a path we don’t resemble. The more you try to be something you don’t recognize yourself, the more frustrated you’ll be. Been there, done that.

“We do it because it’s easier” would be the natural answer. “We do it because our society [insert judgment here]” could be another one. But I think we do it because we don’t believe in ourselves. We’re too f****** harsh with ourselves. It’s easier to blame ourselves than look consciously at our passions and think about what we can do to make it work.

There has to be another way, right?

“Hey Ghost?” written with a corrector on the floor

I wish I knew these answers. I’m better with questions. Nevertheless, I believe we should just accept that the feeling brain is the one who’s driving the car. Besides, maybe we should invite our ghosts to come along in our car. Heard them. Know them. Let them talk and learn why we’re so scared of them. Don’t ignore them, they are a part of us anyway. I’m starting to think that walking alongside them and be more honest with them is the trick to feeling more as a whole.

So…

Hey Ghost. Let’s talk?
